Wade Evanson, Writer
Wade Evanson is a life-long sports fan whose knowledge ranges from major league sports the likes of Football, Baseball and Basketball to more niche sports like Golf, Tennis and even Cricket. While born in Southern California, Wade has spent the better part of his life in Oregon, attending Elementary, High School and even College in the Beaver State. Despite an educational background in Business, the bulk of his brain is occupied by an inordinate amount of trivial data which he feverishly applies to his work as a freelance writer. He prides himself in his ability to argue…any point, cloak his inability to lose gracefully…at anything, and squeeze an ungodly amount of golf into the calendar year. Aside from local contingents, Wade does and always has rooted for the Los Angeles Dodgers, St. Louis Rams (Here’s to them going back to L.A.) and Eric Dickerson…the greatest running back to ever tote the pigskin.
Casey Mabbott, Writer
Casey Mabbott is an Oregon native (a Product of Beloved Suburban Beaverton) and lifelong sports fanatic. Casey has always found entertainment from the “Big-3″ of American Sports, always immersed in Football, Basketball, and Baseball. Recently he has found an amazing new love for MLS Soccer as he follows the Portland Timbers and has words with other fan bases daring enough to think their team is superior in any way other than how well they can lose to the Timbers. Casey has been involved in writing since a young age, and in the last few years found a way to pair his love of writing with his passion for sports by entering in to the realm of Sports Writing. Casey has a sincere love for collegiate football, and wants nothing more than to see either the Ducks or Beavers bring home a national championship. It really and honestly does not matter which team claims the title, so long as they are from Oregon. Mount Hood Community College could win the national championship and it would not bother him. End note: Casey rarely writes in the third person, but is well equipped to do so when the job calls for it.
Jack Cluth, Writer
Jack Cluth is a freelance writer and blogger (What Would Jack Do?) living in Portland. A Minnesota native, he bounced around the US and the world like a over-caffeinated pinball before finally deciding that Portland was the place to finally put down some roots. Having lived and worked in three war zones (and almost shot by a Turkish soldier), Jack finds himself grateful for the relative calm and quiet stability of Laurelhurst. A former goalkeeper at Macalester College in St. Paul, MN, Jack drifts off to sleep at night dreaming about being between the posts again. Somewhere along the line, having discovered that writing was a passion more likely to fill his bank account and outlast his failing knees, he decided to change course. Even after years of counseling, Jack’s still somewhat bitter about losing his beloved Minnesota North Stars to Dallas (Norm Green STILL sucks!). He may never forgive Dallas for stealing his boyhood obsession, but the experience taught him that sports are neither life nor a metaphor for life. That’s his story, and he’s sticking to it- until the Twins win another World Series of the Vikings finally win a Super Bowl.
David Gillaspie, Writer
David Gillaspie’s interest in sports is contagious; both his sons have the bug and his wife is a great sport’s mom. A lifelong Oregonian, David grew up in North Bend playing football and wrestling. He also ran the Seaside Marathon and Hood To Coast Relay. David combines sports and history with insight from the Oregon Historical Society where he worked many years. With those experiences, David’s take on sports includes both the ‘been there, done that’ fan, and those looking to add the fun of sports to their lives. He has been published locally and nationally and writes a blog at deegeesbb.wordpress.com.

Now I'm blending the love of sports with the love of writing.
Ashley Crane, Writer
